Cardano Prepaid Card Launched in South Korea

Clearly moving towards dominating the crypto payment market, Cardano (ADA) has moved a step forward in actualizing this with the launch of its prepaid card in South Korea. Seoul-based mobile fintech company, just announced the launch of the world’s first crypto prepaid card. Metaps Plus, a subsidiary of EMURGO and Metaps, announced the integration of the Cardano token-based card via a press release. The South Korea-based company announced that in line with this launch, the Cardano native token has now been made available on the Metaps plus platform. The Cardano (ADA) prepaid card will help trade Cardano at over 30,000 merchants and outlets in South Korea. According to Metaps Plus, the card will allow users spend their Cardano assets in popular stores like GS25 and Emart24. Furthermore, the card holders will be given options which covers the selection of a mobile gift card or a physical gift card. Metap Plus stated the card works efficiently with “mobile app recharge capabilities” and users can log onto the Metaps plus crypto card website, go through the KYC process to buy the ADA Card.

Cardano (ADA) Gearing towards Mainstream Adoption

One of the impediments to global crypto adoption has been the suitability as a viable payment system. However, scalability issues and high transaction rate has seen to it that this feat is generally uneasy to achieve. Withthe constant of newer and promising projects like Cardano (ADA), it seems that the crypto world is gradually moving close to achieving mainstream adoption. Commenting on the new launch, EMURGO CEO, Ken Kodama, expressed his hope that this new move would advance adoption.
“I am extremely pleased that the ADA cryptocurrency integration with Metaps Plusis now completed. This means people will be able to make purchases via mobile app, but there is even more than that. Now with the ability to charge ADA onto a CRYPTO CARD, people in Korea will be able to take their hands and use it in their daily life. My hope is to see this develop into the widespread adoption of this new method of payment.”

With this partnership looking to bridge the gap between merchants, the global payment system and the crypto world, Metaps Plus also gave his own view.
“EMURGO was the only partner ready with deep understanding into offline payment integration and strategic focus to provide a practical application for cryptocurrencies.”
This is clearly a move in the positive direction as the South Korean crypto market seems to be one of the largest in the crypto world. It is hoped that this finally brings an end to the feud between crypto critics and enthusiasts as Metaps Plus also stated that they plan to extend the products to other parts of the world in the future.
