Walmart lowers prices to compete with dollar stores – Walmart News Today – Business News Today – Sun May 20

Retail giant Walmart Inc. is not backing down in its fierce competition with Dollar General Inc.

Walmart has recently lowered down the prices of its products to get an edge against the dollar stores.

Analysts led by Dan Wewer revealed Walmart is reinvesting some of its tax savings into pricing as part of an effort to grow market share.

Wewer explained based on their observation, Walmart’s pricing for consumables, which includes laundry detergent and cereal, is 4.4% lower than Dollar General and 6.5% lower than Family Dollar, which was acquired by Dollar Tree.

They said Walmart is doing everything just to win the competition against dollar stores by lower prices in all their products.
